Thrilling Finish at the ‘Uber Boat by Thames Clippers’ Hampton Court Half Marathon

Walton-On-Thames, 16th February 2025 – The historic and scenic ‘Uber Boat by Thames Clippers’ Hampton Court Half Marathon took place on Sunday, delivering an exciting race for runners and spectators alike. With 1,486 finishers braving the crisp, cold conditions, the event showcased endurance, determination, and stunning views along the River Thames.

Starting in Thames Ditton, participants weaved their way through a beautiful course that took them over the iconic Kingston Bridge and past Hampton Court Palace. The cold weather added an extra challenge, but runners rose to the occasion, achieving impressive times in the competitive field.

Men’s Top Finishers:

Ollie Garrod – 01:10:26 Ugur Altan – 01:11:05 Mohamed Hashi – 01:11:32

Women’s Top Finishers:

Melissah Gibson – 01:18:08 Stephanie Ainley – 01:21:25 Agnieszka Wilk – 01:21:41

Event organisers hailed the race as a fantastic success, with thousands of runners enjoying a well-supported, well-organised event. “The Hampton Court Half Marathon celebrated its 12th year in style. It was a cold one out there, but we saw so many personal bests at the finish line. There were also many people running for charity, including our charity of the year, Alzheimer’s Research UK,” said race director Tom Bedford.

The event wouldn’t have been possible without the support of Uber Boat by Thames Clippers, event partners, volunteers, and the enthusiastic crowds who lined the route to cheer on participants. The next River Thames Running event will take place in three weeks’ time at the Kingston Break-fest Run.

River Thames Running takes over the baton from Quicksilver Running

New event series, River Thames Running, is the amalgamation of four running events that follow the River Thames from Kingston Upon Thames to Weybridge in Surrey.

They will be organised by RUN-FEST as a separate running series and today they can announce the acquisition of Quicksilver Running events. Quicksilver Running has been organising mass participation running events since 2012, including The Hampton Court Half Marathon, Kingston Half Marathon and Kingston Spring races. Founder and Race Director Peter Wedderburn has now decided the time is right to pass the baton on, and is delighted that local operator RUN-FEST, organised by husband-and-wife team Tom & Jade Bedford, will be taking over the organisation of these events. Peter looks forward to working on the events with the RUN-FEST team as Associate Race Director.

Quicksilver Running will organise this October’s Royal Borough of Kingston Half Marathon, before handing over to RUN-FEST for the 2024 editions onwards where the event series will be part of their new event series called River Thames Running.

Peter says “The last ten years have been the most satisfying of my working life, and it’s been tremendously exciting to launch new events from scratch and watch them grow. While I will continue to take an active role, I’m hoping to cut down on erecting gazebos and shifting barriers at 5a.m. on wet Sunday mornings! I’m looking forward to working with Tom and Jade on the next relay leg of these community running events”.

Tom Bedford says “Our team have been helping Quicksilver events for over 5 years so we know what makes them special. We are sure that with a bigger team effort we will deliver the same if not better fun running events on the most beautiful parts of the River Thames. We look forward announcing more of our plans after this year’s Richmond RUN-FEST“.
